Frequently Asked Questions
Private Investigator Training
– FAQ's–
Is it beneficial to attend a Private Investigator training
program?
Any type of educational program that teaches you an investigative
skill is always extremely beneficial to becoming a successful
private investigator. It is important to recognize that PI training
schools or correspondence courses are not a requirement to getting
hired as a private investigator. However, the knowledge acquired
from these educational programs may give you a competitive advantage
when interviewing for an investigative position.
Will a Criminal Justice degree help me become a Private
Investigator?
A criminal justice degree is not a prerequisite
for becoming a private investigator. However, a CJ degree will
probably help you, as would any type of educational program.
Its important to recognize the difference between a criminal
justice training program and one designed specifically for
private investigators. A CJ program is designed for law enforcement,
unlike the investigative skills used by private investigators
that don’t necessarily
lead to an arrest.
What types of books should I be reading to become a
Private Investigator?
There are literally hundreds of investigative titled books available
to both the licensed private investigator and those who aspire
to become a private investigator. The PI
Magazine Bookstore is recognized as the largest source for
discounted investigative books. They are also known for never selling
books at full retail, usually all titles are discounted 20% or
more.
